It is well-known that Asia-Pacific region is the center of world aquaculture industry, and China is the largest aquatic producer in this region. Since 1989, China’s fishery output has ranked first in the world for 26 consecutive years, and its aquaculture output occupies over 60% of the total in the world. China is the only country that heavily depends on aquaculture, among the major aquatic producing countries. At the same time China is also the most important aquatic consuming and importing country. In 2014, its import volume and value reached 4.3 million tons with US $ 9.2 billion, increasing 2.65% and 6.34% respectively.

With global aquaculture communities paying more attention to the harmonious development between aquaculture and ecological environment, and with developed countries enforcing more strict food safety standards, China and other Asia-Pacific countries have started to adjust its industry structure and upgrade its infrastructure. Sustainable aquaculture and international certification have become a global trend of aquaculture industry.

Industrial upgrading from main aquaculture countries brings more market space and cooperative opportunities for the developed countries in aquaculture utilities, technologies and equipment. To promote sustainable aquaculture and enhance investment & trade, China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPPMA) decided to hold Asia-Pacific Aquaculture Expo 2016 on May26-28, 2016 in Xiamen City of China as the second event.
